 Pregnancy Massage
Appleton, WI

Prenatal massage benefits the body, mind, and the baby. It can be a wonderful way to care for your body while pregnant. Massage therapy can help you relax and feel more comfortable during pregnancy by releasing tension in muscles and improving circulation throughout your body. As your belly grows, it becomes increasingly difficult to find comfortable sleeping positions. Massage therapy can help improve this by loosening tight muscles so that you can sleep more comfortably at night. Prenatal massage may also offer emotional benefits for pregnant women as well as physical ones that will have an impact on their baby’s wellbeing. Some studies indicate that receiving a prenatal massage has been linked with an increase in maternal attachment to her unborn child, less anxiety about bringing the baby into the world, increased self-esteem and sense of control over one's life; decreased depression; improved sleep quality; reduced labor pain; increased coping skills during labor and delivery; greater postpartum satisfaction with motherhood and much more. Message therapy is no longer a luxury, it is a necessity while pregnant.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage therapy is a style of bodywork that focuses on releasing chronic patterns or blocks in the body. As opposed to Swedish massage, deep tissue is often characterized by its slow strokes and typically lasts 45 minutes to an hour. The therapist will use knuckles and elbows to work deeply into muscle and connective tissues, which often helps relieve pain from conditions such as arthritis. Deep tissue massage can be very beneficial for pregnant women; it's designed to release chronic tension in the body by applying pressure through the palms or fingers with just enough force that you feel it deep under the skin. For example, if you are trying to relax tight shoulders this technique could help release trapped tension in your chest muscles.

Can you get a deep tissue massage while pregnant?

The pressure applied on the pregnant belly by the massage therapist may harm the developing baby. Deep tissue massage is not recommended while pregnant. This style of bodywork may not be appropriate when pregnant because it could potentially cause uterine contractions which can lead to a miscarriage or premature birth. That is why we customize our prenatal massages to include a mixture of light deep tissue, Swedish, and reflexology massage therapy.

Swedish Massage

A Swedish massage therapist will use long and gliding strokes, kneading the muscles of your body and stretching them as necessary. You can get a Swedish massage during or after pregnancy to help relieve tension in the back, neck or shoulders. A Swedish massage is beneficial for pregnant women because it increases circulation, reduces stress and eases muscle tension that may otherwise restrict blood flow to the uterus. Swedish Massage is often chosen by people who have chronic muscle pain or feel uncomfortable during prenatal care.

Swedish Massage For Pregnant Women

Swedish massage is a form of massage therapy, often used in combination with other techniques including deep tissue and hot stones. It is based on the idea that 10% of the body's energy is used for blood circulation and the other 90% is used for the muscles, joints, and skin. Swedish massage focuses on long, flowing strokes that are applied to the body's muscles, joints, and skin. The strokes should be slow, steady, and firm. Typically, the Swedish massage therapist is applying pressure to the body's muscles, which is followed by a lighter, soothing touch. There are lots of benefits to receiving a Swedish massage. It will help your body to relax and breath better. You will also feel less stressed, which can help improve your sleep. Reflexology Massage

Reflexology is a type of massage therapy that focuses on the feet and hands. The therapist will work on specific points, or reflexes, on the feet to help improve different body functions or zones. This form of foot therapy can promote better digestion, relieve headaches and stress, as well as increase energy levels. It also provides relief for chronic pain sufferers by stimulating circulation in the affected area.

Reflexology During Pregnancy

Reflexology therapy can help pregnant women with morning sickness, heartburn, and shortness of breath. It can also relieve stress, anxiety, and emotional tension leading to a more relaxed pregnancy. Reflexology has many benefits for pregnant women including relief from morning sickness and heartburn as well as emotional stress that often leads to a more relaxed pregnancy. This therapy can also help pregnant women with shortness of breath which is common during pregnancy due to an increase in progesterone levels as well as body weight gain which increases thoracic volume exceeding lung capacity. This is commonly found as an expecting mother's favorite massage therapy technique.

What is a pregnancy massage?

Pregnancy massage is the process of giving a pregnant woman a massage. Pregnancy massage can be done by an experienced, licensed massage therapist. Pregnant women should be careful about what type of massage they get. Some types of massage like deep tissue massage and shiatsu massage can be too stimulating for a pregnant woman. Deep tissue massage is a type of massage that focuses on the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. Shiatsu massage is a type of massage that focuses on pressure points along the body. Pregnant women should consult with their doctor before getting a massage to make sure it is safe. Pregnancy massage therapists should be aware of the following: pregnancy massage should not be combined with a hot stone massage, pregnant women should have a massage that focuses on their back, neck and shoulders. Pregnancy massage can be safe for pregnant women as long as they talk to their doctor before getting a massage and they know the different types of massages that are safe for them and their baby.

Can you lay on your stomach for a massage while pregnant?

There are many different opinions about whether it is safe for a pregnant woman to get a massage. Some doctors say that it is safe as long as the woman makes sure that the massage therapist is trained and experienced in massages for pregnant women. It is not safe to get a massage on the stomach because it is inappropriate for the baby to be at this angle. However, here at You Kiss We Tell Ultrasound we are changing the game with our very own custom built massage table that has baby bump and breast cut outs. Feel the joy of laying on your stomach while getting a massage knowing baby is kept safe.

Can you massage your pregnant belly?

A pregnant belly can be massaged, but it is best to speak to a doctor first. Massages can be a great way to relax, and some people find them soothing for aches and pains. The massage itself should not be too vigorous and should not be done near the belly button, the uterus, or the ovaries. The person doing the massage should not press on the belly, or else they might cause the uterus to move which could be harmful to the fetus. It is also not recommended that the pregnant person get a massage from someone who has not been trained in prenatal massage. Here at You Kiss We Tell, our massage therapists are highly trained in prenatal and postnatal massages.

Prenatal Massage

Are massages safe during the second trimester?

Massages are safe to receive during all three trimesters of your pregnancy. Some women find that massage helps relieve tension and stress. Many people feel that massage can relieve tension and stress in pregnant women. However, avoid abdominal massage, which can cause uterine contractions. Always talk to your doctor before getting a maternity massage during pregnancy.

Are pregnancy massages safe for baby?

Some mothers-to-be may be apprehensive about getting a massage while pregnant for fear of harm coming to their baby. There is no evidence to suggest that massage therapy during pregnancy is harmful to either mom or baby. In fact, researchers found massage may be of benefit to moms-to-be. It can help relieve a pregnant woman's aches and pains from carrying around a growing baby and increase blood flow to the uterus. Our massage therapists avoid massaging the abdominal area during a pregnancy or if the mother-to-be has a medical condition or is experiencing some pain. However, before receiving a prenatal massage you should always talk to your doctor first.
